NIO Capital Releases 2022 ESG Report

NIO Capital today released the 2022 ESG Report (the "Report"), marking the first time the fund publicly released its ESG report.


The Report details the fund's sustainability strategy and management system and presents NIO Capital and portfolio companies' contribution to climate change mitigation in a measurable way. 



In 2020, NIO Capital established and issued its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), benchmarking top-tier international requirements. The policy is updated annually to reflect our upgrades in investment strategy and ecosystem, as well as identify potential ESG-related risks and impact on portfolio companies. 



At NIO Capital, we promote sustainable and responsible practices, aligning our contributions with common global objectives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the Paris Agreement target. We create both economic and social values for our investors and the broader community.


NIO Capital's portfolio companies dedicated to transforming energy consumption, transportation, manufacturing and our lifestyle to be more sustainable. It is estimated that at least 7.4 million tons of carbon emissions (tCO2e) were saved by adopting our portfolio companies' products or services.



In terms of social influence, in 2022, our portfolio companies strived to achieve solid business milestones and created over 5600 high-quality jobs. Collectively, the companies donated at least 1.5 million RMB to support poverty alleviation, children's education, and care for disabled people.


NIO Capital has a firm-wide sustainability culture. We pioneer in adopting environmentally friendly activities, such as reducing plastic bottle use, encouraging promoting public transportation and replacing fuel vehicles with electric vehicles. In 2022, we were estimated to save more than 200 kg of CO2.


We value gender diversity in the workplace. As of the end of 2022, 55% of NIO Capital's full-time employees are female.
