▌NIO Capital Doubles Down on Automotive Recycler Yuan Planet

 

Yuan Planet, an automotive recycler, has secured tens of millions of dollars in its Series B1 and B2 rounds from investors such as NIO Capital, which also backed its Series B round in 2022. The company plans to use the new funds to scale up its dismantling business and invest in technology R&D.

 

In collaboration with EV maker NIO, Yuan Planet has established a dismantling lab that focuses on the disassembly of electric vehicles, the reuse of recyclable materials and the production of key components.

 

By the end of 2023, Yuan Planet aims to reduce emissions by 300,000 tons.

 

▌NIO Capital CEO Club Completes Second Training Session for Portfolio Companies

 

NIO Capital CEO Club has wrapped up the second session of its empowerment activities for its portfolio companies, with a focus on the topic of executive team integration and evolution. The first session, which was held in August, was about forming the first team.

 

At the session, NIO Capital also released a preview of the Growth Index questionnaire, which helps portfolio companies perform regular self-assessments on the health of their organizations and improve their efficiency, collaboration, innovation and dynamism.

▌NIO Capital's Portfolio Company TUHU Successfully Listed on the Main Board of SEHK

 

TUHU Car Inc. ("Tuhu" or "Company", stock code: 9690.HK), a leading integrated online and offline platform for automotive service in China, successfully listed and commenced trading on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited ("SEHK") in September, 2023.

▌Newrizon Unveils Power Battery Project in Xiamen and Completes Series B+ Financing

 

Leading manufacturer of new energy commercial vehicles Newrizon signed a deal to initiate a power battery project in Jimei District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province. With a total investment of hundreds of millions of RMB, the project is divided into three phases and is expected to generate RMB 6 billion in output.

 

Newrizon raised more than RMB 100 million in the Series B+ financing round to spend on promoting next-generation commercial vehicle iC1, improving the layout of battery swapping, blazing domestic sales channels and expanding overseas businesses.

 

▌Inceptio Technology Receives the Top Award of IEEE AVS 2023

 

Autonomous driving firm Inceptio Technology research team's work Profile Dynamic Memory Allocation in Autonomous Driving Softwarehas been recognized as the top paper by IEEE AVS, one of the most important international symposiums and the most active academic communities in self-driving.

 

▌Pony.ai Speeds up Commercialization of Autonomous Driving

 

Pony.ai, a leading autonomous driving startup, has received approval from the Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone to offer its robotaxi services with no human driver or safety operator inside at all.

 

The company has also obtained permission to transport passengers with its fully autonomous vehicles from the Beijing Daxing International Airport to designated destinations within the Beijing Economic Development District, and to collaborate with logistics giant Sinotrans to deliver cargos with its self-driving trucks, becoming the first company to do so in the Chinese capital.

 

Moreover, the company has become the first autonomous driving company to deploy fully driverless L4 autonomous vehicles to serve passengers in the downtown area of Shenzhen.

 

▌Eacon Expands International Presence

 

Eacon, an autonomous driving technology developer and operator, participated in Mining Innovation Roadshow held by Austmine, an Australian mining association. The executive of Eacon delivered a speech at the event.

 

The company was also invited to attend the Future of Mining Perth, a two-day event on which Eacon has caught the interest of international mining giants such as BHP, FMG and Rio Tinto Group.

 

▌Self-driving Technology Start-up Yunchuang Zhixing Promotes Smart Cleaning

 

Yunchuang Zhixing's autonomous driving cleaning vehicle YC-200 started to work on the Chunxi Road in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

 

This comes after the collaboration Yunchuang formed with Chengdu Huanhan Technology to carry out autonomous sanitation in August.

 

▌Lotus Unveils New EV Model Emeya

 

Luxury automobile manufacturer Lotus has just launched Emeya, its first sedan since the Carlton of the early 1990s.

 

The Emeya is a battery electric vehicle which will feature the same powertrain combination as the earlier Eletre model.

 

The Emeya is expected to go into production sometime in 2024. Consumers can choose basic or high-performance type based on their preferences.

 

▌TrunkTech Pioneers to Transport Cargos with L4 Autonomous Trucks Regularly

 

L4 autonomous trucks developer TrunkTech has been approved to conduct regular tests and demonstration in Beijing Intelligent Connected Vehicle Policy Pilot Zone.

 

Together with logistics companies, it will deploy L4 smart trucks in real scenarios, blazing a new trial in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.

 

▌Uxin Announces RMB 1.5 Billion Equity Investment in its Hefei Subsidiary

 

China's leading used car retailer Uxin Group announced that it has entered into an equity investment agreement with Hefei Construction Investment North City Industrial Investment Co., Ltd.

 

Pursuant to the agreement, Hefei Construction has committed to investing up to RMB 1.5 billion in Uxin's wholly-owned subsidiary Youxin (Hefei) Automobile Intelligent Remanufacturing Co., Ltd. over the next decade in multiple installments.

▌Sunman Attends World Smart Energy Week and Supports Vehicle Manufacturing Project with Zero Emission

 

Developer of innovative solar panels Sunman showed its products such as eArc during the World Smart Energy Week. Sunman's innovative eArc solar panels, made from a lightweight polymer composite material, are 70% lighter than a glass panel, making them easier to install as they can be glued to a surface.

 

An inauguration ceremony was held for the rooftop photovoltaic power generation project of SPIC Fuyang Kaile Automobile. The solar power supply system used in the Kaile factory is the eArc lightweight module independently developed by Sunman. The module weighs only 2.8kg/㎡, 70% lighter than traditional ones.

 

▌AlphaESS Wins China Electrical Procurement Deal, Attends Expos Worldwide and Publishes ESG Report

 

Energy storage solution and service provider AlphaESS has won a bid to provide liquid-cooled and air-cooled batteries for State-owned China Electrical Equipment Group Corporation.

 

AlphaESS presented its latest energy solutions at ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2023 in Thailand, the 2nd China International Energy Storage Exhibition (CIESE), RE+ in the US, and IFA in Berlin, Germany.

 

AlphaESS published its first annual Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Report, detailing the company's practices and performance in this area in 2022.

 

▌PCG Power Forms JV With GLP Capital, Starts Solar Project in Huizhou

 

PCG Power, an energy management and service provider, and GLP Capital have jointly launched Luoneng Capital, a distributed green energy investment platform in Guangzhou. The first phase of the new energy fund is expected to raise 3 billion RMB.

 

PCG Power also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Huizhou Xinfeng Pharmaceutical solar power project, which has a total installed capacity of 2.5 MW. Upon completion, the project will provide an average of 2.7 million kWh of green power per year for Xinfeng, saving 1,067 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,659 tons, equivalent to planting 150,000 trees per year compared to coal-fired power.

 

▌HyperStrong Teams up with Jiuquan Government, China Huaneng and Schneider Electric

 

Beijing HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd., an integrated solution provider for battery management and energy storage system, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Jiuquan municipal government on the development and cooperation in the field of clean energy and intelligent energy storage.

 

China Huaneng, a state-owned energy giant, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a clean energy project in Weichang County, Chengde City, Hebei Province. HyperStrong is in charge of building the energy storage facilities in the project, which is positioned as a zero-carbon energy storage manufacturing base.

 

HyperStrong and energy management provider Schneider Electric have cooperated in multiple fields such as lean manufacturing and consulting on matters related to China's dual carbon goals-peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.

Aulton, a provider of energy management services for electric vehicles, signed a joint venture agreement with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to carry out in-depth cooperation in the field of battery swapping in the market of Chongqing.

 

▌Ronbay Establishes New Strategic Cooperation and Receives ESG Award

 

New energy material manufacturing company Ronbay Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xiantao municipal government in Hubei Province. The company will build a new capacity of 100,000 tons of lithium manganese iron phosphate and 50,000 tons of sodium positive electrode materials in the high-tech development zone of Xiantao City, with a total investment of about RMB 3 billion. This project is expected to be fully completed and put into operation in 2026.

 

Ronbay has made it to the "List of China's Top 100 ESG Listed Companies" by virtue of its excellent performance in social responsibility, corporate governance and environmental protection. The list was compiled by the Administrative Office of Alxa League and the Securities Times, a financial newspaper.

▌Ambilight Continues to Supply Auto Parts to NIO for its New Model

 

After EC7 and ET5T, EV maker NIO's EC6 is the third model of EV equipped with smart glass provider Ambilight's electrochromic (EC) canopy focusing on visible light transmittance and heat insulation, which upgrades the light and spatial experience of the car.

 

▌Xreal Receives Four Certificates of TÜV and Attends Tokyo Game Show

 

Xreal, a mixed reality glasses developer, launched two latest products, Xreal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro. Both products received four verifications of TÜV such as Color Accuracy and Eye Comfort, highlighting the excellent performance of Xreal Air 2 Series.

 

On Tokyo Game Show, a world-renowned game exhibition, Xu Chi, founder and CEO of Xreal, announced that Xreal is the AR glasses brand with the largest global sales volume in the first half year of 2023. He also released Xreal Air 2 Series on the Japanese market.

Semiconductor startup CIX Technology joined a hardware development project initiated by Baidu.
 

The two companies will collaborate to advance technological innovation and commercialization for on-device AI and large models in fields such as personal computing, in-car computing and metaverse computing, leveraging on Baidu's deep learning platform PaddlePaddle.

Rhino, an autonomous driving chips provider, gained the Automotive Software Performance Improvement and Capability Determination (ASPICE) Containment Level 2 certificate.

 

This ASPICE CL2 approval recognizes that the company's software development capability in the automotive industry is compliant with international standards and has reached an advanced level worldwide.
 

▌4D Imaging Radar Startup SINPRO Attends European Microwave Week

 

Shanghai-based SINPRO Intelligent Technology, a 4D imaging radar producer founded in 2021, is the only Chinese enterprise to be invited to attend the significant Automotive Forum of European Microwave Week 2023.
