HydoTech, a global leader in the production of hydrogen using renewable electricity, announced today that it has completed a new round of strategic financing. NIO Capital participated in this round, with part of the investment being structured through a strategic cooperation with CLP Group. The proceeds will be allocated toward on global market expansion and new product development, to solidify HydoTech’s technological edge and commercial leadership in the green hydrogen industry.
Speaking on behalf of the investors, Carl Guan, Partner at NIO Capital, said: “NIO Capital has long been committed to investing in innovative technology companies within the green and low-carbon energy sector. We believe green hydrogen will play a critical role in the future energy landscape. HydoTech possesses clear advantages in core green hydrogen production technology and has established first-mover and localized service capabilities in key overseas markets such as Europe and the Middle East. Its strategic direction strongly aligns with NIO Capital’s mission to drive the energy transition and achieve sustainable development.”
HydoTech is dedicated to providing cutting-edge green hydrogen solutions to energy innovators worldwide. From its flagship advanced electrolysis system—the Hydolyser—to a full ecosystem of solutions for diverse applications, HydoTech now operates in China, Europe, and the Middle East, earning the trust of global energy leaders such as Saudi Aramco, Sinopec, Shell, and TotalEnergies.
Backed by leading technology and proven delivery capability, HydoTech has successfully implemented more than 20 reference projects across China, Europe, and the Middle East, covering a wide range of applications:
· Hydrogen Mobility: Partnering with petrochemical and leading fuel cell companies to build the first integrated hydrogen production and refueling stations in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province.
· Hydrogen Storage: Collaborating with European industrial partners to construct distributed hydrogen energy storage power stations.
· Green Fuels and Chemicals: Working with oil majors to demonstrate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) applications; cooperating with top wind power developers to launch the first provincial-level green hydrogen production projects in Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces, accelerating the scaling of green fuels.
· Industrial Decarbonization: Commissioning China’s first 10 MW square modular electrolyzer with a leading Inner Mongolian energy group, integrated into a coal-chemical process; partnering with a leading cement producer to implement Asia’s first cement-plant green hydrogen coupling project for energy saving and carbon reduction.

HydoTech serves as the green hydrogen technology partner for multiple global energy giants, including Saudi Aramco, Sinopec, Shell, and TotalEnergies. By meeting the rigorous scenario-specific and quality requirements of these high-standard customers, HydoTech has accelerated the commercial deployment of its advanced technologies.
To date, HydoTech has obtained full CE certification in the EU and delivers systems that meet the quality standards of European energy companies. Notably, its wind-to-hydrogen project in Germany is the first high-pressure alkaline electrolysis system to comply with Shell’s specifications. The successful execution of projects across different regions and applications not only validates the reliability and adaptability of HydoTech’s technology but also provides green hydrogen project owners with a replicable commercial model. With its global footprint and integrated solution capabilities, HydoTech is helping to advance the green hydrogen industry from demonstration-scale toward large-scale, sustainable growth.
